TYPOGRAPHIC MAP OF MY ROOM
STEP
I chose to focus on the feelings/keywords that I experience in certain area's of my room.

I gave the area's abbreviations to catagorise them.

And added notes for the typography. Structured, vibrant, pastel colors etc..
This is my end result for the assignment: A digital map of my room. Without actually showing a normal overall picture of my room.

I've never used Adobe After Effects, so this was the first time experimenting with it.

If you click on the gifs it will take you to my room and the things in them! (Interesting color, textures, typography etc.)

The kinetic typography stands for the different feelings/activities that certain areas of my room give and provoke.

This area of my room is the place i'm in the most. It's where creativity, focus, stress, happiness and who I am come together. The words I chose are not random but deliberate. They are not linked together, but words and feelings on themselves. Stress has nothing to do with happiness. But somehow they could. I can have a deadline for school but still be happy because I love designing.

This area is where the designing happens, that's also a reason for the calligraphy animation.

The colors tell a bit about who I am. I feel quite happy most of the time (vibrant colors). I am mix of both girly (The pastel color) and the bold letters that stand for my organisational skill and a more focussed part of my personality that I experience in this area.
This area makes me feel joyful. It's fun! I have my Record collections there, movies, dvd's, memories and knowledge.
The typography is the same as the MARVEL typeface because it's stands for my interests in those kind of movies.

The area is under my bed because I sleep in a loft bed. The movement of the word "joyful" in going under the word "collect" stands for the action that I have to make to be in this area. I have to duck to get under there.

I put the words collect and joyful together. Can you collect joy? When the things you collect give you that joy, I think it can. Although joy is a very deep feeling that you can't always explain.
This area is the place I relax. It's were my couch is.
It creates a feeling of peace and relaxation. Actions that come from this feeling are dreaming and thinking. I have time to breathe and get my mind in order.
Taking a break for example from creating.
It's comfy, warm and it's the place where I look outside my window the most.

In the morning/afternoon I can do some cloud watching and in the evening I look at the stars. That's why the animation is meant to look like falling stars.
This is an area that I don't have pictures of because it's the most private. It's my closet. My clothes really tell about who I am. Although I say that I am colorful and vibrant my clothes tell a different story. I dress always in black and earthly colors. I feel the most comfortable in those. That's why I chose the word comfortable. This typography and the green background also look exactly like a t-shirt I own.

The word nostalgia comes from childhood things which I also keep in the top of the closet. This is stuff from my past. I chose for a font which made me think of a typewriter. This gives me the feeling of nostalgia.

The words together form a weird new word: Comfortable nostalgia. Is nostalgia comfortable? It's not meant to be read this way, but I like how it creates something that you can think about.

This area is the place where my guitars, my designs/art work and my care products are. I chose the color blue because it gives a feeling of relaxation. It has a calming effect. Which is the effect that music and art also have on me.

I chose for the words Dynamic and practice. Dynamic because that's what music is. And the paint brush font because it represents the art.
The word practice is because I need to practice designing and playing music for me to get better. I have to go back to this area again and again if I want to improve.

These two words fit nicely together. 'Dynamic practice'. They are not feelings, but they tell a bit more about the area. Practice should be dynamic. But what does it mean exactly?
